disconnected post

tonight is the last night I will spend preparing for an astronomy final. not that i do not fancy astronomy, but the pain of studying it kills my interest. :) it is FUN to attend lectures, but not FUN to study for an exam.

i suppose it works this way for many other disciplines.

but right now, i just feel a desire to highlight bits of the semester a la prose. :)

1. you step out of your comfort zone COMPLETELY. well, at least in my opinion i think i did. and it was purely practical. very functional thing to do i must say. and in retrospect, going 'abroad' to singapore has been of great help. and i could not have thanked my mom more - for making sure that i sat for the test etc!

2. america is a very interesting place. it has so many attractive qualities - wonderful brownies, aisles of cereal things, bread and bread and bread, lovely refund-sans-questioning system. in a sense, it's refreshing. but on the flipside, i find myself mysteriously rooted to my ASIANness. it has been a very humbling experiene but I have never been more grateful for the circumstances surrounding my upbringing. GO ASIA! :)

3. education. i have NEVER felt such diversity in education. name a course, and you'll probably have it here in UVa. And perhaps, this is a representation of the educational values the US is promoting. you go broad. explore and then decide what you want to do. and i am so thankful for that as well. there was so much intellectual stimulation. very different intellectual stimulation i must say. its amazing.

4. i love my roommate. i thank God for putting Jennani here! :) she has been such a darling. and for that dear jen, i forgive you for the little community of materials surrounding your table. haha. please dont punch me!

and to top it all off - i will add a very unrelated picture of a bunch of kids who went to the IRC Yule Ball (with a Harry Potter theme), and its poser effects. Apparently, we were not supposed to smile. But Ling and I did! :) Ooooops. And I dedicate this post to Clara Lee. For her glamness.
