is it because i am YELLOW?

thank you jen for your contribution (to my title). :) well, this is not a happy post. but i will start with something nice...

1. it was parents' weekend, and so we had many activities going on! one of which was culturefest. and the malaysian students' assoc was supposed to cook cool curries and saucy satays. bought all the stuff and then, poof - an email stating tt there was a new regulation tt the food available must be from a licensed caterer or something. which i thought was silly. why would you wanna eat restaurantish food at culturefest when you can have the real deal! anyway... so i was mostly a bum. today. had many performances going on during culturefest - belly dancing, salsa, thai demos, indian things, etc!

2. we (jen, clara, jamelle and ayisha) then headed to barracks shopping centre for old navy and groceries! and while i doing grocery shopping.. this happened. i was pushing my cart when i came to a relatively narrow aisle. and there was this elderly guy standing there. so i said excuse me, sir. and carefully pushed my cart past him. it was odd cos usually people would like try get out of yr way kinda thing. but he didnt. he just stood there. and when i finally walked past him, he said "Touch my shoe, and i'll sue ya". I thought he was kidding until i looked at his face. He wasnt. My 1st thought - "I swear its cos I am asian." My first experience with a stereotyped southern, redneck American. not in a good way of course. then again, he may just have been a mean old man. but i am not terribly optimistic with the situation. in any case, i kinda rolled my eyes and walked off. no point starting a fuss with someone so narrow-minded. so i just prayed and went about doing what i was supposed to do - enjoy my shopping!

3. i had a brilliant dinner at the runk (another dining hall). far far far off central grounds. but it was a very nice place. i like it. somewhat a birthday celebration dinner for shuang ning. we had helen, clara, em and her roommie, stephanie over! :) cool stuff.

4. came back and was inspired to write this blog.

so yes, its an interesting day. i thought it best to share it with you. brrrr (cold).
