birth

you might know that i am not a big fan of babies. i mean, they are cute, cuddly and without kneecaps but when they start to cry, i fear them. i have been told that it's because i was/am the only child and so, i didn't have sufficient baby/kid interaction when i was younger. others tell me that my maternal instincts will kick in and i will be smothering my precious child like woah eventually. 

either way, i am still not a big fan of babies. nice to see, nice to hold and nice to touch. but when they bawl, it's bad news bozo. 

however, i recently realized that i am ACTUALLY very excited about the idea of birth itself. not the biology of birth but the metaphysical concept of birth. my friend, perpetua has her baby due on march 20 and i am thrilled beyond imagination! i was telling sheena that i would like to be in the hospital when she's giving birth. of course, she reminded me of how she might need to calm me down instead. true, i will probably be useless or freaking out. BUT i really want to be there with her when she's in labour. i can do this!

but having said all that, i would STILL prefer to remain birth-less. sorry, mom.
