flying follies

i had a midnight panic earlier because a travel advisory was issued for a good number of northeastern airports due to snow/icestorms. i was flying through philadelphia to get into san francisco.

i called us airways and discovered that YES, phone operators are outsourced! i inferred that because the lady i spoke to didn't know what the weather was like.

anyhow, i prayed (and mobilized a praying team of family/friends) that God will move the snow up to maine. haha.

i was selected for "special screening" at the charlottesville airport. what's new! i think i have gone through 5 of those in my last 3.5 years in the US and i wasn't even using my malaysian passport. but i am quite foreign. anyway, the lady who did my body tap was really nice and told me that i was given a massage courtesy of the US homeland security. HILARIOUS. and now, i am seated in the philly airport with FREE internet because it's the weekend! (i suppose college students get free internet here as well.)

in brief, flying in the US has taught me a few things:
1. always ask for everything and anything
2. nobody serves free meals anymore
3. checking-in your baggage costs $15 (maybe not all airlines)
4. so does requesting for an aisle seat for some flights
5. being ethnic is threatening to homeland security (i quote a friend)

i am sure there's more to learn but for now, let's just pray that the sun keeps shining so i can fly outta here!
